FOR THE BS IN INFORMATION STUDIES (STEM)

(Program prerequisites GPA must be 2.5)

COP XXXX Any Computer Programming course COP XXXX Any Object-Oriented Computer Programming course
MAC XXXX Any Pre-Calculus or Discrete Math course PHI XXXX Any general ethics course
LIS 2005 Library and Internet Research Skills (as part of the 6 required Social and Behavioral Sciences (CASB) General Education Credits).

 

BSIS Core Courses

There are six required core courses, each is three (3) credit hours.

Concentrations

Concentrations are available in four high-demand job areas: Health Informatics, Data Science & Analytics, Information Security, and Information Science and Technology. Course information for the concentrations can be found here.


General Degree Option

Students also may elect to pursue a "general" degree option, rather than a designated concentration. For the general option, BSIS students must take the 18 hours of major core courses, but for their remaining credits may choose from among available courses across the three concentrations or other courses approved either by their faculty advisors or the BSIS program director.
